Michael is originally from Long Island, New York. During high school, he was active in the music department, playing saxophone in every ensemble, and participated in theater as an actor or pit orchestra member. He was also an American Red Cross certified lifeguard and water safety instructor. After high school, he moved to Fairfax, Virginia to attend George Mason University, earning a bachelor’s in music education and a master’s in music performance. As an active member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, he supported its philanthropy, The Ability Experience. A highlight was participating in the Inaugural Build America Team, where he and 25 fraternity brothers built functional amenities, such as wheelchair ramps, nature trails, sensory gardens, and climbing towers, for camps serving kids with special needs. After college, Michael became an elementary band teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. In 2015, he moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota permanently with his two daughters, Grace, who is currently at Apple Valley High School, and Lily, who is currently at Falcon Ridge Middle School in District 196. He continued teaching band in Cottage Grove, Inver Grove Heights, and Woodbury. After 18 years of teaching, Michael transitioned in February 2023 to Pete Peterson’s State Farm agency as a dedicated team member. Michael is a natural problem solver who enjoys interacting with people from all backgrounds and communities, a skill honed over decades. As a lifelong State Farm customer since he started driving, he deeply believes in the long-term benefits State Farm offers. Melissa Hinkle
Hi, I’m Missy! I was born and raised right here in Minnesota, and after spending nearly 20 years as an elementary and middle school science teacher, I decided to channel my passion for helping people into a new direction. Today, I am incredibly grateful to protect our local community as a Life Insurance team member on Pete Peterson’s State Farm Insurance team in Lakeville, MN.
Education is at the core of everything I do. I hold a bachelor’s degree in education from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Catherine University. I approach life insurance the same way I approached teaching: by breaking down complex concepts so families feel confident, educated, and truly secure about their future.
My absolute favorite job, however, is being a mom. My two older sons study Business Marketing at Iowa State University, and my daughter is a junior at Rosemount High School. When I am not in the office helping neighbors learn about life insurance in Lakeville, you can find me staying active playing softball, indoor volleyball, and sand volleyball. I am also a proud sports mom, so you’ll frequently see me in the local stands cheering on my daughter at her soccer and lacrosse games.

I’ve lived in Prescott, Wisconsin my entire life. I was raised by my parents, Lisa and David, alongside my sister Sydney, and with two older siblings—my brother Alec and my sister Brittany.
I graduated from Prescott High School in 2023 and currently attend Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where I’m majoring in Business Analytics with minors in Management and Marketing. I’m also proud to be a member of the Hamline University collegiate baseball team.
When I’m not studying or playing baseball, I enjoy spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends. My interests include fishing, hunting, swimming, and golfing.
