Michael Utell

Michael is originally from Long Island, New York. While in high school, he was active in the music department by playing the saxophone in every ensemble offered during his time there and was active in the theater department by either acting on stage or performing in the pit orchestra. When he wasn’t in school, he trained with the American Red Cross to be a lifeguard and water safety instructor. After graduation, he moved to Fairfax, Virginia to attend George Mason University. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Performance. He was also an active member of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi and its philanthropy, The Ability Experience (formerly known as Push America). His favorite memory as a part of that was participating in the Inaugural Build America Team in which about 25 of his fraternity brothers from around the country traveled to six different camps that served kids with special needs. They built functional amenities for each camp including wheelchair ramps, nature trails, sensory gardens and climbing towers. During this time, he met his wife, Vanessa and she moved to Virginia and were married in the year of 2006.
Once Michael graduated from college, he became an elementary band teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. While working there, him and his wife had 2 daughters. There is Grace, who is currently 12 and enjoys art, baking, making messes and school, then there is Lily, who is currently 10 and enjoys gymnastics, reading, playing music and being silly. In 2015, his wife who is originally from Bloomington, Minnesota was missing home and her parents, and Michael wanted a change in scenery. So, they moved to a single-family home in Apple Valley, Minnesota to be closer to family and allow Michael’s wife to successfully work as a music teacher in Eagan. Michael eventually took a job as a band teacher in Cottage Grove, Inver Grove Heights and Woodbury but decided in 2022 after teaching for a total of 18 years, he was ready for a change. Starting in 2023, Michael became the newest team member for Pete Peterson and State Farm and he could not be more excited and grateful for this opportunity.
Michael is a big foodie. He loves to bake, cook, eat, grill and try new recipes and restaurants. He is still very active musically with his church, Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. You can see him giving back as worship music leader at their Wednesday evening services and participating in their choir and handbell ensemble. He is a proud Girl Scout Dad since his daughters are currently both Girl Scouts and his wife is their Girl Scout Leader to their troops. When he is not working or cooking the meals while spending time with his family, he is either cleaning the house, playing with the dogs they actively take care of through the app, Rover, and making sure his daughters are practicing either piano, their band instruments (flute and tuba) or the songs they sing with their respective choirs. At the end of the day, you’ll more than likely see Michael with a good book or watching a movie or something on YouTube.
Michael loves to help and interact with people. He wants to educate his customers on the long-term benefits of what his team can offer, while figuring out what are the needs and wants that fit you and your family to help you move forward with your lives securely and successfully. Hayley is originally from Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, but she spent much of her childhood going to south-west Wisconsin to visit family and friends. She went to college in Eau Claire, graduating in three and a half years with a bachelors in English and minor in journalism before moving to the cities to experience a faster-paced life. So far, she's loving it.
When not at work, Hayley is going on adventures with her friends as she explores all the cities have to offer, collecting experiences like some collect magnets or mugs. On the quiet days, she's taking care of her cat and writing stories for her friends and herself. She hopes to be a published author by the time she turns 30.
